MAS Holdings and Sri Lanka Air Force join to launch the nation’s first ever aerial reforestation project.

Since June 2018 MAS Holdings has been experimenting on a new tool against deforestation that could change how Sri Lanka protects and grow its future forests. Seeds balls are an ancient technique for propagating plants from seeds without opening up soil with cultivation tools such as a plow. The rediscovery and modern popularization of seed balls is credited to Japanese natural farmer and philosopher Masanobu Fukuoka. MAS US Holdings, Inc. Receives Approval from US Commerce for Foreign Trade Zone Sites in Siler City and Asheboro

MAS US Holdings, Inc., a subsidiary company of Sri Lankan-based apparel and textile manufacturing company MAS Capital, was approved by the U.S. Department of Commerce for a Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) sub-zone with sites at their Siler City and Asheboro locations. Once activated, the company can bring imported components or products into their facility and reduce, eliminate and/or defer tariff payments until the imports leave the facility. How MAS silently grew a forest and turned an economic zone green

In 2013 MAS had a choice to save or build on a 10-acre patch of overgrown land inside its 165 acre Fabric Park in Thulhiriya. The plot was a golf course in its earlier life but over the years but had become overgrown with iluk and manna grass.
